Offshore companies generally need annual renewal, government fees and a registered agent and address. Some jurisdictions require annual returns or financial information. We remind clients before renewal dates.
Hong Kong tax: FSIE
An offshore company is not automatically exempt from Hong Kong tax. Since 2023, Hong Kong has operated the foreign-sourced income exemption (FSIE) regime. Income received in Hong Kong may remain taxable if the exception conditions are not met. The treatment depends on the company structure, where it operates and the source of profits.
